Frequently asked questions
General
Reiki is a gentle, hands-on (or hands-off) energy therapy that supports deep relaxation, emotional balance, and overall wellbeing.
You can lie down or sit – whatever feels comfortable. You remain fully clothed, as Reiki flows through all fabrics and even materials like plaster casts.
We’ll begin with a short chat about your wellbeing and what you’d like from the session. I’ll explain what to expect, including hand positions and how Reiki may feel.
I place my hands lightly on or just above the body – there is no massage or manipulation. Distance Reiki is also available and works just as effectively.
Most people experience warmth, tingling, waves of energy, or a sense of deep calm. Some feel very little – this is normal too. Reiki works regardless of sensation.
Reiki works with the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.
Sessions include a 45-minute treatment with time to talk before and after.
Reiki may support relaxation, stress relief, emotional balance, improved sleep, clarity, and general wellbeing. Everyone experiences it differently.

Please come to the side gate when you arrive.
Wear something comfortable.
Allow a little time afterwards so you don’t need to rush.
Most people feel rested, calm, or re-energised. Sometimes the body has a mild “detox” response—such as increased urination, changes in temperature, a runny nose, or emotional release. This is normal and temporary.
Aftercare tips:
Take it easy and give yourself space to unwind.
Drink plenty of water.
Notice your feelings and let them move naturally.
If anything persists for more than a few days, consult your doctor.
If you have questions, just get in touch.
If you have diabetes, epilepsy, or a pacemaker, please check with your doctor before receiving Reiki.
This varies for each person, but Reiki builds cumulatively, revealing patterns and releasing what no longer serves you. Here are some helpful guidelines:
Energetic Support
Weekly or fortnightly sessions during times of stress, big life changes, or deeper healing.
Energetic Check-In
Every 1–3 months for ongoing balance, energetic maintenance, or support with chronic conditions. Perfect for those who enjoy checking in with their energy levels to help relaxation, sleep etc.
Energetic Boost
Once or twice a year to reset, feel grounded, and support general wellbeing.
Reiki becomes more intuitive over time – you’ll naturally sense when you need another session.
Reiki does not cure disease, but it can ease side effects and provide supportive care alongside medical treatment.
Reiki can do no harm but always check with your doctor if you are unsure.
I offer monthly sessions at the Pickering Centre in Tunbridge Wells. These can be booked through them once you become a member of their community.
